Are teams devoting more energy to winning extra possessions?

After watching the Cavaliers beat the Knicks the other night, I was talking to a friend about the game. And the first thing he brought up was the Knicks failing to dominate the possession battle the same way they have in recent years, and especially the way they did when the two teams played each other in the playoffs in 2023. And that got me thinking about the battle for possessions in 2024, and if and how that battle is being waged compared with the way it was in the recent past.
